南韓因為MERS疫情，損失了大筆觀光財，為了留住外國遊客，當局祭出免費保險的優惠，外國觀光客如果在南韓旅遊期間感染了MERS，醫療費由南韓政府埋單。南韓的MERS疫情，死亡病例再添三起，目前為止，已經有23人喪命，確診165人。（夏明珠報導）
南韓爆發MERS疫情以來，已經有十多萬外國觀光客，取消赴韓旅遊計畫，疫情不知道還會持續多久，如果愈來愈多人不敢去南韓觀光，經濟損失不堪設想。
對那些考慮取消赴韓旅遊的觀光客，南韓當局說安啦！它打算針對MERS，把赴韓旅遊的外國觀光客，自動納保。如果在韓國旅遊期間被傳染，醫療花費由保險負責，合作單位還在尋覓，保險條款也待議定，何時上路還不確定。
六到八月是南韓一年當中，旅遊最旺的季節，遊客減少兩成，估計就會損失九億美元收入，減少五成，損失將達到23億美元。
在MERS還沒爆發以前，南韓的經濟就已經露出疲態。上個禮拜，南韓央行降息，希望藉由增加市場動能，緩和疫情對經濟產生的衝擊。
